Our Top 5 List of Romantic Things To Do In New Orleans French Quarter

Updated: Jul 23, 2023

As we shared in several of our blog posts, including our spring post about taking the object of your affection to visit our French Quarter New Orleans Perfume Shop, we believe Madame Aucoin Perfume should be high on the list of romantic things to do in New Orleans. But, we also thought our readers would find it both fun and helpful if we shared some of the other places in New Orleans French Quarter (a romantic place on to itself) that we think should be included in the list of top 5 romantic things to do in the French Quarter.

This is an ombre pink and light yellow image that contains a photo of old buildings with balconies in the French quarter of New Orleans, plus an image of a couple's silhouettes at nightime. We believe enjoying food and drink in a quaint atmosphere, visiting and viewing historical places, shopping for a sentimental/intimate/personal item, or just going for a sight-seeing stroll all can contribute to a date being romantic. We also believe that when a couple steps outside their comfort zone by participating in an activity they’ve never tried before, it just brings you closer together because of the shared experience. So, with that in mind, here’s our romantic activities list, based on our own experiences and favorite places to visit in New Orleans.

  1. Madame Aucoin Perfume, of course! Read more about why our historic, quaint boutique is the perfect place to take a date.

  2. Bottom of The Cup Tearoom. This fun, historic Chartres Street venue will be celebrating its 95th anniversary soon. It offers almost all of the romantic-date characteristics we described above, which makes it the perfect place to take a date: lots of great history, quaint atmosphere to enjoy specialty teas, personal and intimate items like jewelry and candles for sale, and most importantly, a chance to have a tarot card, palm, or tea leaves reading with your special someone.

  3. Mr. B’s Bistro. Located on the corner of Royal and Iberville Streets in NOLA’s French Quarter, the mouth-watering Creole and Cajun food served at this “go-to” spot of ours is adored by both “locals” and tourists. With its long, rich history and casual bistro vibe, Mr. B’s is definitely a romantic place to take that special somebody! And, be sure to order the very yummy pecan pie a la mode for dessert!

  4. Royal Street. Take your best gal or your best guy for a stroll down this historic, eclectic French Quarter street that dates back to the 18th century! So many unique shops and food establishments to visit, including antique stores. Plus, you’ll find a number of museums there! When at the intersection of Royal and Toulouse Streets, be sure to check out Sweet Saint Ice Cream on nearby St. Louis Street!

  5. The Historic Carousel Bar at Monteleon Hotel. This gorgeously decorated 70-year-old bar with the charming and fun appearance & feel of an amusement park carousel will immediately have your date squealing with joy and amazement. And, what’s not romantic about sharing a nice glass of wine or other favorite alcoholic beverage together?
